Area in which there is a hotel, in the beginning of the XX-th century students named «Latin quarter» (by analogy to university quarter of Paris where Sorbonna is located). In a XIX-th century the University of means of communication, Artillery school, the Institute of technology and Architecturally-building university here have started to operate. Later to them the Baltic technical university more known as Voenmeh has increased. The area has kept romantic and cheerful atmosphere of student's quarter. At desire you can plunge into it, having glanced in a court yard of Technological university where there is D.I.Mendeleyev's unique smoking monument. Nearby there is popular «the St.-Petersburg State Youth theatre» under control of S.Spivaka, Uspenija Presvjatoj Devy Maria's Catholic cathedral, Izmajlovsky and Polish gardens, the Troitsk area with a restored Troitsk cathedral, and the Troitsk market.
